Federal Express

In 1965, a student named Fred Smith wrote an essay. In this essay, he mentioned that the demand for package delivery in the U.S. would continue to grow, surpassing the capabilities of traditional ground transportation services. Moreover, many types of goods, such as medicine and electronics, require fast delivery.
Fred Smith proposed establishing a dedicated delivery service that would transport goods directly with extremely short delivery times. At the time, the aviation industry was already developed, but most airlines were focused on passenger transport. They did not consider air freight to be sustainable or central to their operations.
Fred recognized the potential of air freight, especially in light of advancements in information technology. However, his professor disagreed. After all, who would be crazy enough to pay for air freight, let alone run an air cargo company with its own fleet of planes? Ultimately, Fred received a grade of C for his essay.
Six years later, in 1971, Fred purchased Arkansas Aviation Sales. After gaining insight into the challenges of the air freight industry, Fred founded a new company based on the existing foundation. He named the company Federal Express, now known as FedEx.
FedEx Corp is a major U.S. corporation, with express delivery being one of its leading business segments. FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, is the world’s largest express transportation company. The majority of its operations involve air freight. Today, the company operates in over 220 countries and territories, with revenue reaching $90.2 billion in 2023.
After more than 30 years of FedEx Express operating in Vietnam, the country has become a key market for FedEx Express in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa region.
